Getting Started with this AMI
If you are a new user of the Amazon EC2 environment, we recommend one of three options for getting started.
Please note the following about this particular AMI.
- While there is no charge for use of the Sybase software, you will be billed by Amazon for running the AMI and for storage.
- When you create your AMI instance, you will get a new Windows Administrator password.
- When you launch your AMI instance the first time, you will be prompted to accept the Sybase IQ license agreement. Accept the license and you will be authorized to run Sybase IQ.
- The AMI has been installed with the Sybase IQ demo database. Start it up like this: Start...All Programs...Sybase...Sybase IQ 15.0...Start Sybase IQ Demo Database. Start Sybase Central to connect to and administer the database: Start...All Programs...Sybase...Sybase IQ 15.0...Sybase Central Java Edition.
- There are no other databases currently installed on the AMI. If you want to create a database on the file system of the AMI, create it on the D: drive which has 147GB of free space. If you want to create a database on a raw device, see the following to learn how to use Amazon Web Services Elastic Block Storage (EBS) to attach storage to your AMI instance: http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/entry.jspa?externalID=1667&categoryID=174
