The IBM® InfoSphere™ Information Server developer’s Amazon® Machine Image (AMI) allow you to quickly integrate data in high volumes across multiple data sources and target applications using InfoSphere DataStage® and QualityStage.

This 64 bit kernel version 2.6.16 based Linux OS AMI contains a pre-installed InfoSphere Information Server version 8.1 product. The installed components are InfoSphere DataStage and InfoSphere QualityStage. It also contains an instance of the DB2 9.5 database that will host the metadata repository. The services tier is hosted by IBM WebSphere Application Server version 6.0.2.17.

There is a separate Windows based image with InfoSphere Information Server clients such as the web based Administration Console, the DataStage and QualityStage Designer, DataStage and QualityStage Administrator, and the DataStage and QualityStage Director.

I have a LINUX based instance running that I created form an AMI ami-1515f67c. I've installed my software on it and I now wish to save this instance as an AMI. The "Create AMI" link on Instance Actions menu is greyed out. I need help with storing this instance.

The published AMI is S3 bucket based so you cannot use AWS UI (Create AMI) to re-bundle. This option is only valid for S3 based windows AMI or EBS based AMI. The EBS based AMI can be re-bundled through UI irrespective of underlying OS.

To re-bundle linux based S3 AMI, please follow the link http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSEC2/latest/DeveloperGuide/index.html?paidamis-intro.html

and check the instructions for Building a Linux or Unix AMI.

Let me know if you need further help.

cheers.
