New Instance Types and Firefox Extension for Amazon EC2

1) Very excited about the new instance types.
2) Love using the EC2 UI extension for Firefox.
3) Wondering if there are plans to update the Firefox extension to work with the new instance types, or if I am just missing something.
I tried launching the FC6 64 bit ami, and got a warning about the architecture type requested not matching the architecture type in the manifest.
Any plans? eta?

Update to the EC2 UI extension for Firefox would be nice to have.
Regarding the architecture type error message, I think this is what happens if you try to run the 64 bit AMI on the m1.small instance type. Try launching the m1.large or m1.xlarge. I think the m1.small original instance type is 32-bit only.

Yes I understand about specifying the instance type to match the ami type. That was the point of my question -- when will the Firefox EC2 UI provide a field in the "Launch Instance" dialog to specify an instance type.

My mistake. I interpreted your post as 2 separate questions. I can't help with the 1st, but I tried with the 2nd.

We're working to get the extension caught up.

Thanks James and David -- great news.
When I try to install from the XPI, it says it is installing version 1.2.10807. I cleared cache and retried with the same result. I uninstalled the curent ec2ui and retried with the same result. When I download the zip file, the timestamps are from February -- guessing it is the same version.
Is this an S3 propagation delay (and I should try again later) or is the new version not quite out there yet or is it somehow cached on my end? Is anyone else getting the new version yet?

Hi,
I have rechecked the download and it is v1.3.14648 so it would appear that you are being affected by a cache on your end. The following link may resolve the problem:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/ec2-downloads/ec2ui.xpi?
Let me know if you still are unable to download the updated version.
Regards,
David

I was able to get the latest plugin using the direct link to the xpi file, so the problem is not on Amazon's side.

Thanks all -- I uninstalled, cleared cache, restarted, fresh install -- worked this time. Successfully started an extra large instance. Thanks again!

With the new Extension when I want to launch an instance, I see two identical fields with:
"Maximum number of instances"
that doesn't make sense to me

Can you confirm you have the latest version?
I just opened up the latest build and although the fields look like they're duplicated at first glance (I initially thought I saw the same thing) they're actually different (one is max, one is min).
EC2's RunInstances API supports specifying a minimum and maximum number of instances. We'll only launch instances if we can satisfy the requested minimum, but if the maximum is higher than the minimum we'll try to launch up to the maximum number of instances requested.
Regards
James

Firefox has the ability to check for new add-on versions and prompt to install them... be nice if ec2ui supported this.

Any chance you could release the source for the plugin as a sample app? It would be a great starting point for a lot of custom tools.
