Instance not Available/Loading

Hello - is anyone else having issues with their instances??? I cannot access one of my images by http, scp or otherwise. It looks to still be running when I check ec2-describe-instances
I guess this is the value of having an SLA with traditional hosting companies. Please let me know if anyone is having the same issues!
Thanks!

After searching the forums it seems that this is not the first time this problem has occurred - my instance id is: i-246f8c4d.

Hi,
I am able to connect to your instance via both ssh and telnet on port 80. Can you confirm if you are still experiencing connectivity issues?
If you are, or experience networkig issues in the future, please provide the following information to enable us to assist you:
* Instance-ID(s)Involved
* Is connection being made from within or outside EC2?
* Source IP address from which connection was attempted
* Was DNS name or the IP address used to connect
* Which destination port/service failed?
* Provide timestamp and timezone of failure(s)
* Provide traceroute from source->destination and destination->source
Regards,
Liehann

Hi,
I noticed that the first instance id you gave was different from the second which explains why I was not originally seeing any connection issues.
The network interface of the second instance was broken and I had to reboot the instance to correct the problem. You should find the instance is now contactible.

Thanks Liehann - this seems to be a problem cropping up around the forums. Is the ec2-reboot-instance reliable yet?

Hi,
In this case I had to reboot the host machine and not just the instance.
There are currently a few known issues with ec2-reboot-instance which we are working to address. These issues are corner cases and general use of the command should be fine.

Liehann

Hello - this instance seems to have gone down again... i-246f8c4d. Can you help Team Amazon??
Searching around the forums reliability looks to be an increasing problem for the instances. Are there any suggestions as to how we can ensure that our instances stay up?
Thanks for any pointers.

Could you elaborate a bit with regards to "down"? I ask because I can get a response from the ssh daemon as well as the fedora core test page via http.

Actually just went back to my emails and received an email on Saturday stating the following:
"This is just a quick note to let you know that one of your instances (i-39668150) was erroneously terminated today. We have resolved the underlying issue, and the service is fully available.
You can find a summary of the issue here:
http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/thread.jspa?messageID=68169𐩉
We apologize for this inconvenience.
Sincerely,
The Amazon EC2 Team
"
Is there any way to retrieve the data that was sitting in this instance?

Once an instance has been terminated it is not possible to recover the ephemeral store. We're sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

So our box randomly craps out and there is no way to know if it will happen again with 1. Any of our Boxes in Production and
2. Any of our dev boxes.
So essentially using Ec2 is cheap but you never know when your machine is going to go down...great way to run a hosting business...
