Not all doom and gloom.  It should be noted that AWS are keeping us up to date.  They've replied 5 times to this thread alone - that's about once every 15 minutes since the incident began.

10 out of 10 for communication.  Bravo!

... lets just hope that the networking engineers are as good at sorting out communications as their support colleagues :)

Yes, Amazon communication is being a lot better than on the last S3 issue, which is very good because it keeps me more confident knowing they are working hard on this.

I've tried spinning up 3 replacement instances each in a different availability zone and none of them are accessible externally. I also have a number of instances in each availability zone that are unavailable, many of them on different networks are also unavailable, a few on 75.101.0.0, a few on 67.202.0.0.

All our instances are running, but instances in us-east-1a and us-east-1c aren't available to the outside world and cannot connect out starting at 1:50 PDT. Instances in us-east-1b and traffic on the internal network between zones is fine.

While I'm glad they're posting updates, why are we forced to search the forums for such things?  Shouldn't there be an official status page, or email list, or at least a blog?

I completely agree.  There should be a site or twitter or something.  And our group just dealt with our slices dying a few weeks ago.  I do feel a little bit better knowing they're working on it... but I wish we didn't have to experience this in the first place.

AFAIK they are working on such a solution since the last S3 issue... Just have to wait on that...

We believe connectivity is being restored.   We’ll post with more information but wanted to let everyone know.

Yeah!!, Me too.  Seems to be working again.  Luckily didn't loose too many millions of dollars in downtime :)
